NEVC to play ECS Tuesday
On Tuesday, Sept. 7, the NEVC Lady Knights will be on the road to El Dorado Springs to take on the ECS Buffalos. The game will begin at 6:30 p.m. Take a short drive and come out to support your NEVC Lady Knights.

The NEVC Lady Volleyball Team took on the Ballard Bulldogs and the Sheldon Panthers in a tri-match on Tuesday, Aug. 31.

The Lady Knights lost the first match against Ballard 25 to 17, but came in fighting the second match only to lose 25 to 23.
NEVC struggled at the serving line in match one but only missed two serves in match two. Against Sheldon, NEVC had the lead 10-2 but Sheldon came back to take the first match 25 to 22. NEVC couldn’t rally back in the second match and again lost 25 to 22. “Of course, any loss is disappointing but our girls do not have anything to hang their heads over,” said Coach Teresa Lyness “We were passing, setting and hitting well. It just wasn’t our night to win.” Assistant Coach Kelly Bell added, “They showed a lot of heart and passion for the game.”

The Lady Knights are led by seniors, Taylor Ast and Courtney Greer. Both girls are team leaders on and off the court. We are expecting great things from these two ladies this year. Both of these veterans play the court very well and keep their team focused.

Juniors Spencer Hoagland and Crystal Bogardus will see a lot of playing time as well. Spencer is one of our main hitters and can fill in when we need an extra setter. Crystal continues to improve her game and did very well in her passing game on Tuesday.

Payton Hayes, a sophomore, is one of our well-rounded players. Her hitting and passing game will be crucial to the team’s success. Shelby Wilkins is another of our young players and we are seeing daily improvement in her game.

Others who saw playing time Tuesday night were Camille Butorff, Erin Kitsmiller and Christanne Middleton. These three came in and out of the games and played their positions well. We have several young girls who, as the season progresses, we know will step up to the challenge when asked. Ryan Ford, a sophomore, did not see court time as she was short one practice per MSHAA rules. Tiffany Shear, Abby Gilpin and Kyliegh Maus make up the rest of the Lady Knight Volleyball team. These girls are young and lack experience but are working hard and we expect to see them on the court soon.

“We are excited about this team. They are improving every practice and are gelling as a team!” the coach said.
